Tweet: Assembly@Raffles Girls School

Assembly team had good time mingling with past student participants from RGS, Singapore Sports School and Hwa Chong whilst manning a booth at the South East Asia Geography Teacher's conference. Our current "youngest future Mayor" award holder Sean from Sports School, certainly helped us show the link between Geography as a spingboard to many future jobs available in town planning, environmental science and GIS.

MDIS arriving in EduCity@Iskandar, Malaysia

The Management Development Institute of Singapore (MDIS), founded in 1956, is Singapore’s oldest not-for-profit professional institute for lifelong learning. In September 2008, MDIS set up its first overseas campus in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan in Central Asia, to offer world-class tertiary education to students from the Central Asia region. MDIS has representative offices in China, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.  It is also represented by agents throughout Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

MDIS inked a landmark deal with EduCity@Iskandar in June 2010 and is the first Singapore private tertiary institution to make its foray into Malaysia. The 30–acre new campus will be funded internally by MDIS. The first batch of students is expected to be enrolled in 2013.

Join us at SEA Geography Association Conference: 27-29 Nov

ASSEMBLY team will be participating and talking to Geography teachers on how town planning has its roots in physical, human and social geography. Human settlement pattern, climatic and physical landscape adaptation for food cultivation, social systems, transport and logistics are some examples of baseline information needed for good planning. GIS, surveys and complex impact assessments make planning robust and real-time!
